This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
I have nineteen 3rd graders and six 2nd graders. I teach a 2/3 gifted split class. My students learn at a grade level higher than other classes. They are very intelligent and always are looking for a challenge. I teach at an Art Magnet themed school, and we are constantly integrating the Arts into our lessons.
My students love to learn and think outside the box!
My students also like to move while learning and work in their own space.
My Project
My students need the opportunity to make choices about their learning environment. With these flexible seating choices, my students will be able to do that. They will also be able to focus better and be more engaged.
I think giving my students different options for seating will help them take ownership of their work.
I need a desk where students can stand to do their work without having to bend over at a regular desk. I also need wobble chairs where students can sit during guided reading. These offer movement that typical chairs do not. This will allow my students with ADHD to move around.
