This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Flexible seating for a more inviting learning environment.

Seating options are not about cushy comfort, but about creating agency within the learning environment.

In looking over my classroom for ways to improve academic engagement through the design of the learning environment, I realize that learners prefer choice. In our homes, when we are going to read or study, we might choose to perch in a supportive chair at a table, be relaxed at the couch, or sit on the floor.

Many of my students experience trauma and stress, and otherewise are challenged to engage in reading our other focused study. I have found that seat a couple of seat cushions and wobble stools have helped a few of them, and I am ready to expand the flexible seating options with the durable and ergonomic products in this project. Thank you for supporting our class.
