Flexible Seating = Focused, Calm & Productive Students
Help me give my students flexible seating in our classroom. These FlexSpace Comfy Floor Seats will allow students to choose how to work in a way that is comfortable for them.
I teach at a Title I school in the fifth largest district in Illinois. This means a large percentage of students who attend my school come from low-income families. This is my third year teaching the third-grade honors class. These students qualified for an accelerated program because they are the top 10% of their peers of the entire school district. I have a large class this year that is full of dreamers, thinkers, engineers, and innovators, but perhaps most importantly, these students LOVE to learn!
This group of kids makes coming to work everyday fun and exciting; I do it with a smile.
These students are extremely kind, thoughtful, passionate, inquisitive and slightly competitive. They challenge each other (and me) daily. We have amazing conversations in an environment that we built together, where everyone feels safe and respected. They are our future and I want to give them a great start to their educational journey.
I am requesting Flex-Space comfy floor seats which will allow students to choose how to work in a way that is comfortable for them. Students today learn in many different ways. Research has shown that comfortable students are calm, focused, and productive. With this floor seat set, the students in my classroom will be able to choose seating that works best for them to ensure that they are comfortable while learning. Flexible seating also allows students to pair up quickly and easily for collaborative work.
Flexible seating is an important element that I want to add to my classroom to encourage student choice, a sense of community and collaboration, movement breaks, and sensory input.
These seating options will allow students movement breaks that will foster a more productive learning environment.
