Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

A typical day in my classroom involves a lot of movement, collaboration among students, and a comfortable learning environment.

The students in my room from our school are eager, full of vigor, and very active.

My population is a mix of multi-level English Language Learners and English Only Students. We are a Title I school with a lot of school pride. We as a staff and student body are proud of our school, our accomplishments, and the direction we are heading as 21st century learners.

My Project

Students will be using flexible seating to give them a sense of comfort and thinking of the classroom as "home", as opposed to the typical rigid seating of the past. Studies have shown that flexible seating allows for more wiggles and movement while sitting which in turn helps with concentration, especially for those students with attention issues.

I currently have 6 seats that allow for this movement, and the kids absolutely love them.

The problem is, I have 26 students, meaning that three-fourths of my students are left without that choice. If I can provide flexible seating to most of the students, it would be much easier to manage.
