My Students

My students have been greatly affected by the pandemic. I do not have 1 student out of 22 who is working at grade level. The majority of my kids live in low-income homes and face many challenges outside of the classroom as well. These conditions have been exacerbated because of Covid-19. Given the fact that they have not had a "normal" school year, since the initial shutdown began during their kindergarten year, there are many social, emotional, AND academic concerns.

I would like to provide a classroom that helps close educational gaps and also enriches my students socially and emotionally.

I have a fantastic opportunity to do this with DonorsChoose. These kids are amazing and deserve the best!

My Project

My students are looking forward to having tables and chairs that they can be comfortable in while they learn. I love when the kids work in pairs and partners and this new classroom set up will allow them to do it without taking the time to drag desks across the room or sit on the cold tile floor. The organizational materials will keep us uncluttered and help save space in the room.

How fantastic it will be to have a room clear of messy desks, lost supplies and seats that fit the bodies and personality of the little ones!

My students will be given the power of making choices through this project. They will also be able to move around the room and find the space that is best for their learning. I have researched the benefits of this type of learning and there is no doubt that this is the most conducive way for them to learn.
