The students who make up our fifth-grade class are a dynamic group of motivated, complex thinkers! Every scholar comes to school ready to learn and achieve their personal best. I can honestly say that each day I learn something new from each of my students.
My fifth-grade class is comprised of approximately 50 vibrant learners from extremely diverse backgrounds, with varying socioeconomic and academic levels.
I am fortunate to look out my classroom window every day and see the beautiful Atlantic Ocean. While the school is just one block away from a $1.4 billion dollar tourist industry , the socioeconomic status of the school ranges from upper-middle-class families to homeless families occupying campgrounds and motel rooms. Every child brings a distinctive background to class, and all of the staff at our school work tirelessly to ensure every child leaves with a strong future.
My Project
Walking into our classroom may seem a little chaotic to an "untrained eye". Students have voice and choice in almost every aspect of their learning- from their seat choices to the type of collaborative project they wish to create. Over the past few years my students and I have DIY'ed several seating options and technology components for our classroom, but unfortunately, these have begun to wear and my dedicated scholars need seating replacements and permanent fixes to tech issues.

By obtaining floor seats and lap desks, my students can comfortably collaborate and work around the room. In addition, my students can use the microphone accessory to create iMovies, green screen projects, and blog posts straight from their chrome book- without having to guess the content of their work!
