Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I didn't realize the benefits of flexible seating until one of my teacher friends let me borrow several wobble stools for my students. My students were thrilled! There was no doubt my students loved them too. Research shows that flexible seating and movement can improve student engagement throughout the school day. To ensure everyone gets a chance to use a wobble chair, we let Mojo (from class dojo) pick 4 students randomly at the start of the day. We also talk about expectations and safety when using flexible seating to ensure students are using these "FUN chairs" properly.

Soft starts are also something I am implementing this year instead of morning work.

Every morning students grab a STEM bin and build! I am still looking to gather more materials for STEM bins and these magnet tiles are something I know my students will enjoy. STEM promotes creative thinking and gives students a reason to look forward to coming to school.
