Second graders at our school are creative, thoughtful and full of questions! They absolutely love hands-on, active, engaging projects and challenges that allow them to think outside the box to find solutions! They come to school each day ready to try new things and take brave chances in order to grow both personally and academically. Truly, they are inspirational!
We incorporate a variety of learning strategies, group work, and alternative seating and learning options to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are!
They are truly incredible second graders, and I am so lucky and thankful to have a new group of learners that are excited and ready to learn!
They are fearless when it comes to technology and, as children of the 21st century, they need to be prepared to use a variety of tools to engage their world.
My Project
My students need flexible seating options such as Wobble chairs, stools and yoga balls, in order to allow for classroom movement and student choice. An adjustable computer table that students can stand at will be another great form of student seating. Student choice of seating options will allow students to find their ultimate learning style throughout the school day. Research states that students enjoy having choice and they are able to increase their academic performance with a classroom environment that offers student choice that meets the differentiated learning needs of a variety of students. Overall, I would truly appreciate this project being funded so that my students can have the most effective learning environment available to them.
