My Students

My wonderful kindergarteners come in each day excited to see their friends and see what we are doing for the day. They come from all over the world.

I teach at a very diverse school in Houston, TX.

We have a high percentage of English Language Learner's. Our diverse population of students speak over forty different languages. For many students this is their first experience in an American classroom.

I have students with varying needs. Some of the needs include ADHD, autism, second language learners, working below level, high achieving/gifted learners, and now trauma due to our area being hit by hurricane Harvey. No matter what challenges they face they come to school wanting to learn. They all love to learn!

My Project

I want to bring more flexible seating options to my classroom. I want to provide them with an alternative seating option rather than the standard chair. There are many benefits to having flexible seating in the classroom. A few include a more student centered classroom, different types of seating for comfort, increase productivity, and maintain focus. Flexible seating is also great for my students with ADD, ADHD, and/or other special needs. It allows them to move and sit in unconventional ways that help them to focus better. The wobble chairs allow for movement while sitting, unlike the standard classroom chairs. These chairs will allow students movement while they complete their activities.

This project will turn my chair to table environment to a physically comfortable learning environment that meets the needs of my students.
