My students are hardworking and dedicated to learning. Their unique abilities and differences bring multiple perspectives into our classroom; however, it also has its challenges. I have a wide range of students in my self-contained class, from GATE to non-English speaking. I want to reach all my students’ needs and would like an environment that gives them opportunities to work where they feel is best. Giving my students the ability to take charge of their learning is important to me. As their teacher, it’s my responsibility to make sure my students feel loved and safe in a welcoming environment so that their learning can flourish.
My Project
Providing choices in a student-centered classroom environment is crucial in a child's education. Every child has a unique learning style, and these differences should be celebrated as well as accommodated. I want my students to feel comfortable in my classroom and take risks in their learning.
A 21st century learning environment is found in flexible seating.
My students deserve to have the choice of different seats. Over the course of the next few months, I hope to have a transformed classroom that gives my students the opportunity to learn at their highest potential.
Allowing students the gift of choice empowers them to take ownership and responsibility for their learning/education.
