Flexible Learning: Providing an Environment to Help ALL Students Learn.
Help me give my students options for flexible seating. The rugs and futon provide a homey space for students to learn. The stools will provide space for students who want structure but need a break from traditional desks.
Our middle school population is roughly 415 students. 55% of students are marked as high poverty Roughly 20% of students have disabilities and 14% are chronically absent or truant. This means that a lot or our students Despite these challenges, my students work hard to meet the rigorous expectations of our school.
Help me give my students flexible seating; these items listed will create an enriched learning environment catered to their individual style and needs by giving students the opportunity to decide for themselves where they would like to learn each day.
My classroom will serve several purposes and cater to students with special needs as well as general education students in 7th and 8th grade.
Each student in my classroom has a desire to learn and be the best they can be, but the method and environment in which they learn best varies greatly from student to student. I try hard to incorporate a variety of learning strategies and styles into my teaching to ensure that each student's needs are met, right where they are! Flexible seating will allow a new approach to provide a learning environment that fits each student.
My Project
When students meet in groups to discuss a topic, sitting in comfortable, flexible seating, such as the rug or futon will help them be more confident and share their ideas more freely.
Giving my students a choice on where to sit while working to meet today's rigorous standards will promote excitement and a love for learning.
Plus, offering students choices, even if the choice is as simple as where they sit while learning, helps students to take ownership over their education which is vital to their success!
The rug and futon will help create a homey environment where students feel comfortable to share thoughts and ideas. The stools allow for structure but a break from traditional desks.
