My Students

As a first grade teacher, it is a joy to come to work everyday and see the bright, shining faces of my students. They are excited and motivated by the new things they take in daily. They enjoy solving problems and being creative thinkers. My students are inquisitive, eager, creative, and would benefit from "out of the box" learning opportunities.

The students at our school love being here and greet staff and each other with smiles and hugs every morning.

They strive to do their best at school.

My Project

First graders have a lot of extra energy in their small bodies. This energy is usually frowned upon in the classroom. However, in my classroom, it is encouraged! Through flexible seating, students are not only more focused, but they are also building more relationships with their peers as they move around the room.

Research has shown that students focus and work best when they have an outlet for their extra energy.

My students need a lot of opportunities to move and wiggle. The more they move, the better they can focus. Wobble chairs allow students the opportunity to get their 'wiggles' out while focusing their attention on the task at hand. We currently have a low table in our room that the students sit at on the ground. The comfy floor seats would provide the students with extra comfort while they are hard at work at that table.
