Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
We are a charter school, so our children come from all around our area. Many drive a long way because they do not care for their zoned options. The children that we educate are so special because they come from many different walks of life. We have quite a few underprivileged families who choose our school because it is tuition-free and a safer environment. As a charter school, we receive no state funding, and many expenses are left to the school and individual teachers. This is a heavy burden, especially when it includes technology.
My Project
The age range of my kiddos is such that they have a hard time sitting still or remaining in the same place for long periods of time. Flexible seating creates such a unique learning environment for students, especially kindergarteners, because it allows for just enough change to keep them focused and engaged. When I see they are losing focus or just getting antsy where they are it’s time to move. Currently, I only have one type of seating other than traditional chairs and it has been priceless. I experimented with it beforehand to see if it was a go for my little ones, it is ! I am asking for wobble chairs and ball chairs for our classroom. Thank you for you help in keeping my little minds engaged for what ends up being very long days.
