My Project

Research and classroom experience demonstrate that students thrive when they can collaborate, explain their thinking to others, defend their reasoning, ask questions, and learn from multiple problem-solving strategies. In my classroom, students regularly work with partners and small groups to solve complex mathematical tasks. However, the current furniture was designed for a more traditional classroom model, making collaboration difficult.

Flexible seating and collaborative tables would transform the learning environment by making it easier for students to engage in productive mathematical conversations and teamwork.

The goals of this project are to create a flexible learning environment that supports collaboration and student engagement, to increase opportunities for small-group instruction and differentiated learning, to improve student comfort and classroom accessibility, and to foster communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.

My kids deserve a classroom environment that reflects current best practices in education.
