Fact fluency is a big part of our 3rd grade math curriculum. Learning to multiply and divide is a standard that we address in great detail. Third grade is the grade in which memorization of multiplication/division facts takes place. Just about everything we do builds upon that foundation. When we begin measurement and fractions later in the year, they will still have to use multiplying and dividing skills. It comes up with time and geometry, as well.
Reflex Math is an absolutely amazing online platform that many teachers are using to help their students build fact fluency.
Reflex allows each student to practice online on his/her math level with 4-5 minute "practice sessions" focusing on a fact family they are working to memorize. After these brief "practice sessions," they get to practice those targeted facts through a variety of interactive games.
I was blessed to have received the Reflex grant last year where I received a subscription for my class. Unfortunately, that subscription has expired. So I am seeking funding for another year's subscription for my students. I have already seen SO much growth in my students with their fact fluency in multiplication and division. I think a large part of this is due to their practice sessions on the Reflex Math program! I would love to continue having this engaging resource in our class to help us "flex" our math muscles even more as the year progresses! Thank you for considering a donation to this project.
