My Students

This class is very special! They show an interest and passion for learning that is contagious. We live in Grand Ledge, Michigan, home of the locally famous "ledges." Students are able to see first hand the results of hundreds of years of geological processes. This group loves to get their hands dirty! Anything that they are able to investigate through experience, really gets them moving! They also come up with questions that challenge themselves to think outside the box. When ever they are given the opportunity to actually experience things during an investigation, they thrive and move even further forward!

My Project

Critical thinking, collaboration, communication, and creativity are the 4c's my students are working on. "Flex Your Gray Matter" will provide a real world atmosphere with social interaction and activities that focus on problem solving, as well as using their academic knowledge to navigate through the challenge. Students will use the BreakOut EDU kits to venture into situations that only their collective brains will be able to solve either physically or digitally. This project will take place during every class hour for 3 days to reinforce what has been learned. We will continue this project and reinforce the academic lessons until the end of the school year. They will also have digital BreakOuts that they will be able to be engaged with in school or at home. Thanks to your generous donation, "Flex Your Gray Matter" will improve the ability of our 8th graders to think critically, work collaboratively, communicate often, and be creative when working with academics or in life. Their lives will never be the same, and for that I will forever thank you.
