My Students
Our school is a Title I school, located in the middle of Santa Monica, and is one of the most diverse in the city. Our students represent a wide spectrum academically, socioeconomically, and ethnically.
My students are enthusiastic and curious learners, with a strong thirst for knowledge and a high level of energy that creates a unique learning environment.
Our classroom has a buzz that drives each day, and my students strive to learn more, be more, and create more.
My Project
I have a flexible set up in my classroom, which allows my students to learn in the environment best suited for their individual learning styles. Our school Chromebooks are clunky and cumbersome and make it difficult for my students to move freely around the classroom and seamlessly integrate tech into their projects. I would love to be able to provide small groups of students access to tablets across curriculum and for group projects in science, math, language arts, and even visual arts. Allowing them the freedom to move with the tablets lets them be creative and helps them to document and share their thinking—this enhances their learning as well as their social-emotional development.
