Mysteries have engaged my student's natural curiosity and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nThis week we started book clubs too with our mystery novels. It is one of my favorites as the students become detectives and try and solve the crime before the characters do. Book clubs encourage critical thinking, improve comprehension, and help students develop strong communication skills. This table has created a large and stable workspace for my students to express their artistic creativity.\r\n\r\nThe laminating pouches that we received as a result of this grant have allowed us to preserve student work. This has been great for helping items to be durable, while on display in our classroom. Now, my students have a mailbox to hold these papers until the end of the day.\r\n\r\nWhile our students are provided with some school supplies, they have never had a pencil box to help them organize and place their materials in. To say they were excited is definitely an understatement. \r\n\r\nThe students loved creating and exploring with all of the supplies they received. Each student created a unique tote bag, that was their very own. Students were challenged to build airplanes and boats with the supplies provided, but no instructions. Every designer and engineer brought their individual visions to these projects. They had a chance to test out their airplanes and boats, and they also had the opportunity to re-design them if they so desired. There is a set location in our room, where students are able to access their own Sharpies. They LOVE using them for projects, and you'd be surprised by how skilled they are at using them.
