My Project

My first graders are on an exciting journey to become confident, fluent readers! To help make learning more engaging, I’m working to create a flexible seating classroom where students can choose comfortable spaces to read, collaborate, and practice literacy skills.

Research shows that when children are comfortable and engaged, they are more likely to stay focused, build stamina, and develop a love for reading.

Flexible seating options such as wobble stools, floor cushions, bean bags, lap desks, and other classroom seating will give my students opportunities to learn in ways that best meet their individual needs. Additionally the mobile teacher items such as the rolling stool and adjustable chair will provide an opportunity for me to be accessible to students and have materials that I need to support them at an arms reach.

Together, we can help transform beginning readers into confident, fluent readers who love opening a book.
