Help me give my students a sense of independence & choice when it comes
to their learning. This type of stimulation has been proven to help children focus and process information. Especially students with ADD/ADHD.
This school year is coming to an end; however, I’m looking for ways to improve my classroom next year. I teach at a Title I School. A lot of my students come from low-income homes. I have researched the benefits of flexible seating, and I want to implement this into my classroom next year. 5th grade is a big year! Especially with testing! I want to provide the best and most comfortable learning experience possible for my students! Help me provide them with a sense of community, choice, comfort, and collaboration.
My Project
Every student has different learning styles and needs. I want to provide my students with a better, more comfortable learning experience by implementing flexible seating in our classroom. I believe flexible seating will create a better learning environment, provide a sense of collaboration, meet my students' sensory needs, as well as give my students a sense of ownership and choice over there learning. Even as adults, it’s hard to stay in one spot for a long period of time. Students feel the same way. It is a fact children need to move! When children cannot move, they become distracted and off task which makes other students distracted and off task. Flexible seating will cut down on those distractions and behaviors that stem from being confined to a seat.
