My students are from a very special area of the state Michigan. Our community is a strong and vibrant group of people that deserve the best education the world has to offer. My students are from Dearborn. Most live below the poverty line, but that does not stop their eagerness to learn. Our school has a strong team of educators that cannot wait to see what this school year will bring to our students.
To say my students are not like any others would be an understatement.
They are kind, caring and emphatic students. They are faced with many hardships each day, but it doesn't stop their drive to learn.
I never have a day where I don't smile or laugh because of them. Whether it is in having a great discussion on poetry analysis or hearing them argue over who will give me their pack of goldfish crackers from lunch, we never have a dull moment.
My Project
I am working hard to make my classroom environment comfortable for all students. One thing that has been hard to find is a great couch option for flex seating. This futon will be the perfect match for my students personalities. We've had a bench for some time now, but a futon will give them the support they need for posture, while allowing them to be comfortable in the classroom. I think that I can see a lot of growth in their silent reading time if they are comfortable in their seating within the classroom walls. I look forward to producing this environment.
