Flex Seating To The Rescue!

My students need balance ball seats and floor seat to replace their old adult sized balance balls and flattened bean bags.

My Students

My students consists of 4th grade students that come from a very diverse background, mostly Filipino, Hawaiian, Asian, and small percentage of Caucasian, and many blended from different ethnic backgrounds. The school is a Title I school which is considered a low income school and more than half of the student population qualify for free or reduced lunch. Their parents are working-class who work very hard to provide for their families. Although most of our population struggles financially, our school is one of the top 25% schools in Hawaii. We have been selected as a Blue Ribbon school. Our free and reduced students do just as well academically as the kids who do not get a free or reduced lunch.

My Project

The materials I have requested already have a 'home'. In other words, I know exactly where everything will go. We just need your help in getting everything through our door! We currently have 3 adult sized regular balance balls without legs. The students absolutely love sitting on them but some students do not get to enjoy sitting on them because they are far too big for their little 4th grade legs. For those that are able to sit on them, the balls roll around making it very unstable and sometimes cause accidents. We have had to remove these balls from the classroom as they were getting unsafe and looking for alternative options and these balance balls from Lakeshore are the perfect solution. We also have some bean bag chairs but being all the way in Hawaii, it is very difficult to find the fillers for the bags and now the bean bags have gone flat. The comfy floor seats will be great a replacement for students wanting to read on the floor.
