My Project

After 10 years of teaching students in Chicago, I moved to Alaska and recently accepted a new position teaching 1st Grade for the next school year. While I am ecstatic and saved some things from my previous role, I am starting in a new school somewhat from ground zero with furniture and supplies. I am so used to teaching in a classroom with flex seating and allowing students to move and grow, and I need some for my new classroom.

I believe that every student learns differently, and flex seating is just one way to allow a student to choose where and how to learn.

I will be teaching at a Title I school with many children that are facing many challenges outside of school that directly affects their ability to focus and learn in the classroom. I want to create a fun and supportive environment that helps my students succeed in their learning ability, and meets their individual learning needs. My biggest goal is to help each student in my classroom succeed in first grade and learn to their highest potential.
