My students need flags for their daily pledge. This includes a US flag, a Texas Flag and pole.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Each morning, our K-5 Scholars stand up tall and say the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and to the state of Texas. We take this time to reflect on how incredible it is to live in such a great democratic country and the many deep sacrifices others have made for us.
We are a Title I school and most of our scholars are children of immigrants or immigrants themselves.
Their families have come to the US in search of a better life. The American Dream is very much alive with our scholars and families. We are a relatively new school and serve scholars from K-10. Our Primary Scholars share a campus (which is a formerly a church building) with the Middle and High School scholars.
My Project
All K-10 scholars at our school share one auditorium. It is the main venue for assemblies and morning meetings for our community. We celebrate successes of our scholars and teachers and discuss what we need to work on as a school. Each day, we say two pledges: The Pledge of Allegiance to the United States and the Texas State Pledge. However, we do not have any flags in our auditorium to look at while we pledge. We need this visual reminder of what the pledges mean and how important they are!
Having actual, large flags that every scholar can focus on will help start out days out right.
As scholars say the words, the flags will be a reminder of the deeper meaning of the pledges so that they are not merely reciting empty words. For our youngest scholars, it gives them a focal point and for our scholars and teachers, the flags would give weight to our words and also remind us of all the opportunities we have because we live in the United States.
