Five Senses

Help me give my students an engaging five-senses experience with interesting, hands-on materials.

My Project

Young children learn best through hands-on exploration. In this project, my goal is to improve the quality of the science center to help my Head Start students learn about their five senses.

Using the materials selected, students will have the opportunity to explore scientific reasoning and language skills.

The Mystery Capsules allow children to focus on one of their senses and then use their vocabulary to describe the sound. The Washable Sensory Materials will allow children the opportunity to explore sight and touch in a sensory bin. The Five Senses Theme Box will provide additional activities to explore senses in other centers of the classroom. The Tactile Letters can be used in a center other than the Science Center where students can have conversations about the feel and color of the letters. I can help students attend to and increase their language skills with these materials through authentic and guided conversations.
