Five Minutes of Fame in Math!

Help me give my students the opportunity to share their learning with their peers. Having a document camera will allow students to take turns sharing their solution and heighten their love of Mathematics.

My Students

My students live in North Carolina and are the most compassionate, hard working kids I have met. They all have learning disabilities of some sort, yet they work hard and really desire to succeed in all they do. More than half of these students come from low-income households, and they do not always have access to the same materials as same-age peers in neighboring towns. Our school works hard to provide our students with the best resources possible, but we rely on our community to fill any gaps.

My Project

In our classroom, we work with diligence fostering the idea that all mathematicians do not have to solve problems in the same way. We are at all levels of learning and we each look at problems with our own lens. An important part of learning mathematics is the ability to explain your thinking to others. Each day as we practice mult-step word problems, the students get excited to share their method for their peers. A document camera would allow more students the opportunity to share, resulting in a motivation for success in Mathematics.

Having an AverVision document camera will allow students to showcase their thoughts and ideas while allowing them practice in communicating with their peers.
