This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are funny, caring, creative, very active and are always willing to learn! My students are 10 and 11 year olds (5th grade). I teach in a Title 1 school, which means that my students are from low income, high poverty households. Over 73% of our students receive free lunch. We are a STEAM school and we are advocates for flexible seating! Our students understand flexible seating and are experts at making their own choice when choosing their spot to learn!
My Project
These desks will continue to enhance student learning and flexible seating. Flexible seating is second nature to my students. So why not add in another option that takes kinesthetic learning to the next level? Having these desks will help to provide an opportunity to where they can choose where they want to learn.
With these lap desks my students can move around the room to their desired place of learning.
These desks will also allow collaboration when doing group work because the students can all work together on projects while having this flexible seating option. These desks make sitting on the floor (many students prefer this) so much better because it gives the students a place to "press down" and do their work without having to use the floor.
