Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The motto for my physical education classes is, "Fit For Life!" Physical education is so important in the life of a child and equally important in the life of an adult. Students need to learn the basic skills of all sports in order to develop as athletes and to enjoy a lifetime of fitness.
Students at Palo Verde Middle School are passionate about sports.
My students come from many different cultural backgrounds and have diverse interests. Many of my students come from disadvantaged circumstances and therefore, many of them do not have the opportunity to participate in team sports outside of school. Having the opportunity to have 35 basketballs, 30 volleyballs, 25 soccer balls, 20 badminton racquets and 2 new tetherballs will enable hundreds of students to participate in skill training in multiple sports. Participating in team sports improves social skills and sportsmanship and these skills will translate into the adult world. We pride ourselves at Palo Verde Middle School in building students with great character and participating in sports only enriches their growth in good character and citizenship.
My Project
Having 35 basketballs, 30 volleyballs, 25 soccer balls, 20 badminton racquets and 2 tetherballs will allow hundreds of students to practice multiple skills in multiple sports. My students will learn athletic skills including balance, agility, running, jumping, throwing, shooting, and eye-hand coordination. Additionally, students will learn how to properly play and participate in team sports. Many students will continue to develop as athletes at the high school and college level. More importantly, students will learn and set of skills that will continue to keep them fit for life! Having the opportunity to participate in team sports will also improve students' sportsmanship and will build great character.
Being fit for life is something people need to learn at a young age.
By providing my students with basketballs,volleyballs, soccer balls, badminton racquets and tetherballs, students will have the opportunity to develop athletic skills that will ultimately improve their overall health. Additionally, they will develop a love of sports and healthy living that they will carry into their adult years. Good sportsmanship & improved character through physical education will also benefit them for life.
