Fit and Fun

My students need soccer balls, soccer goals, a bowling game and other outdoor sets to get them moving and help them develop their weak gross motor skills.

My Students

Do you remember playing outside until the street lights were lit? Sadly, today's students are less physically fit than ever! They spend far more time using electronic devices than they do developing their gross motor skills. I need to get them moving and teach them some basic athletic skills.

My students are young and enthusiastic learners.

They enjoy everything we do at school. Our school is large with over 900+ students in grades preK-5. The students come from various backgrounds. We have a large special education population as well as a large ESOL population. Many of them come from families with working parents and they spend long hours in daycare before and after school.

My Project

Our school is large and has over 900+ students vying for the limited green space. We do test our students on physical fitness and I am always discouraged to see that they are unable to do the gross motor and endurance skills. Times have changed and children do not spend the time outdoors playing and exercising as they should. For some of them, it is a matter of living in unsafe areas. For others, they are spending too much time watching TV or on the computer or playing video games. I have requested a variety of outdoor play equipment including soccer balls, soccer goals, a bowling set, some balancing spots and some egg spoon race games to get them excited about moving and playing outside!

We have got to get children moving.

By building better bodies, we prepare them for a successful future. Help me make exercise fun for them with some exciting games that they don't have access to at home. Won't you help get my students moving?
