"All students can learn, just not on the same day, or in the same way." This quote by George Evans describes my classroom values as an inclusive classroom teacher. My students each possess a gift to learn.
My students each have their own schema they build upon each day.
In our class we support each other by words of encouragement, classroom responsibilities, and maintaining a positive classroom environment. My students feel supported and loved, and therefore each strive to do their best. They love to be active and are very creative. They have taken on leadership roles in the classroom that have given them a sense of purpose. Our school sits in a diverse pocket of the Charlotte Mecklenburg School system. We have students who come to us ranging from low income single family homes to higher economic status neighborhoods.
My Project
My classroom is composed of a variety of skills, needs, and talents. I would love to encourage healthy living and movement by introducing my students to physical activities, that they have never tried. By encouraging trying new activities I will also be supporting teamwork, perseverance, and finding active ways that appeal to all. Kickball, volleyball, corn-hole, and jumping rope are all sports that require a group; thus encouraging teamwork.
I would also love to receive 5 yoga sets to introduce a small group of my fifth graders to the yoga practice.
Yoga has shown benefits such as lowering stress, increasing flexibility, maintain balance, improved athletic performance, and increases your blood-flow.
Please consider donating to support my fifth graders on encouraging fitness and fun, which both have proven benefits to academic performance.
