This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Many of my students come from a high poverty area. Many of them having little to no schooling prior to kindergarten and are on free or reduced lunch. Many are English language learners and this is their first experience in a school environment.

What I love most is that regardless of their experiences, they all come with a thirst for knowledge and an eager to learn attitude.

In a matter of months, they learn, grow, and mature so much. It truly is remarkable to witness!

My Project

This activity will encourage students to practice their sight words through fishing. Lakeshore's Fishing for Sight Words game is a great way to promote the memorization of 25 different sight words through play.

Cast, reel, and read those sight words.

Yes, students will drop their line, snag a fish, and read as many words as they can. This is a great way to encourage the memorization of their sight words. It is fun and the kids will enjoy playing it over and over again. With all this practice, students will have an easier time when it comes to reading these words in context.
