Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

I want to make my class warm, calm, and welcoming. I want the students to feel comfortable and ready to learn. This is my first year teaching. I have worked with kids for 16 years and will be starting a master's program. The first year is hard, getting started and going to school this summer. I would like my students to feel welcomed, want to come to school, and be ready to learn. With your help, I can do that. I will be teaching at a school with lots of low-income students and hardly any family support. I think that with the items I’ve chosen we could be a more organized and the flow of the class will be smooth. The rainbow rug and chairs are for a calming corner so when a student need a moment they can get in a safe place. The big area rug is for instructional time as whole group. The lanyards are for field trips and hall passes to let adults know where the students are supposed to be going. The Legos will be used for STEM activity. Book storage will be used for weekly books and the center area. Laminating sheets will be used for things I need to re-use and they can write on with markers.
