My Students

My class consists of 25 incredible students who are creative, curious, and hands-on! Unfortunately over 80% of my kindergartens were unable to attend preschool due to COVID-19. This lack of traditional schooling caused significant learning deficits and many students entered the classroom having no previous academic knowledge. These severe implications have made it even more difficult for students to learn and progress. These students are hard working but need more learning resources to supplement the curriculum and support the learning discrepancy.

As we face the unforeseen challenges of learning in this new environment, these students have been diligent in excelling beyond expectation and making new strides to exceed the limitations of COVID-19.

Our classroom community not only acknowledges these difficulties, but celebrates them. They recognize that difficulty and failure are important stepping stones to success and that without hardships, we are unable to appreciate the triumphs of learning. As a result, they continue to learn to read, write, count and communicate with one another in a classroom for the first time in their lives.

My Project

This project will support my students learning by providing me with the necessary instructional tools and materials to teach effectively! These materials will be able to be used online or in person for a variety of lessons including reading, STEM, writing and social-emotional learning. From lesson planning structures to hands-on activities, these resources will help me to implement more interactive work for the students. This will allow me to target goals in a more effective way by helping students learn the material practically.

The activities such as the practice rings and the write and wipe boards will also help students to build autonomy by giving them independent and educational games and tools.

These materials would support me to provide a more meaningful and hands on instructional experience for my students and I would love your help in providing with them with that!
