Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

Within just a short week and a half, I have learned that my students are very much kinesthetic learners and do best when moving around. Brain breaks are an important part of our day to ensure that we get exercise in and are able to focus on our work.

I want my students to feel comfortable with their learning environment and have the opportunity to work where is best for them.

Our school is nestled in a community that has a family feel, and I want to continue to foster that inside of my classroom by allowing students to have a choice in their education.

My Project

A lot of my students have a hard time sitting still while they work. The bouncy bands will allow them to get some of their fidgets out and even allow for a little bit of movement in their legs to help them get some exercise. Clipboards will allow for them to work around the room, wherever is best for them!

Some of my students work best when they are moving around or doing something repetitive, and the bouncy bands will do just that for them!

As a first year teacher, I am thrilled at the idea of creating spaces and opportunities for my students to be comfortable, successful, and achieve everything that they set their minds to.
