My Project

Our middle school has been transitioning to a more project-based learning style. This is very exciting for me as it allows students to put the "art" into English Language Arts.

6th-grade students recently did a project based on their reading and interpretation of "Out of the Dust" by Karen Hesse.

To complete their projects, they needed access to supplies that I did not have! It is important for me for students to be able to express their learning in more ways than writing and traditional test-taking.

7th-grade students completed their PBL Unit on Cultural Landscapes in early March. The physical products that students showcased were nothing short of special: 3D models, dioramas, and recipes. Students' engagement is at its highest when they can demonstrate their learning through physical products.
