Celebrate Black Teachers and Students

This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My students are amazing, but have limited resources and opportunities to excel. Teaching at a Title 1 school with all of the budget cuts, it is tremendously difficult to get the supplies I need. It hurts me unconditionally to look at their disappointed faces because we cannot do an activity since we do not have enough supplies. I buy what I can afford ,but fall short. I have students that come to school with holes in their clothes and tears in their eyes. My classroom is their home and safe place from all the trauma they are exposed to each day. I am their ocean of protection and love.

My Project

I work with children who struggle each day to survive, and don't have the support they need to excel in reading. Kindergarten is the foundation where reading blocks are mastered, and for many I am the one that is first introducing letters to them, so I want the first time to be fun and hands on.

These tablets will expose my children for the first time to technology that will be able to foster a new skill, that will help them to read.

They will be able to learn their letters, sounds in the comfort of a classroom where their teacher so wants to see them to succeed. This tool will give me the extra support, I need to reach all of my students who are struggling. I will be so ever grateful and thankful for a donation.
