My Students

I am very fortunate to teach the students of this community. They are motivated, inquisitive, and really enjoy collaborating when given a project. Over the past year, parents have generously donated towards my vision of introducing STEM based chemistry and biology labs involving amazing technology that is used to gather data.

The students appreciate the opportunity to use the STEM lab equipment because it allows them to use technology while collaborating and using critical thinking to produce results which help prepare them for the future.

My Project

If you ask around campus, students that had me for chemistry will tell you one of the best parts of the school year would be all of hands on labs that engage and promote interest. For the upcoming chapter, my chemistry honors students would gain so much knowledge of stoichiometry and understanding of chemical reactions if we had 12 water electrolysis units and the materials needed to perform additional meaningful labs. Recently, I performed this electrolysis lab and now I really would like my students to experience decomposing water into oxygen gas and flammable hydrogen gas. This kit is awesome because they will see the hydrogen gas form twice as fast as the oxygen gas which reinforces the 2:1 stoichiometric quantities which were taught this year. Then they will perform a confirmatory test by safely igniting the hydrogen and reigniting with the oxygen gas. The additional labs focus on the 4 main types of chemical reactions.

The students would benefit from the excitement of exploring, collaborating, and analyzing results; therefore, I would be appreciative if we could come together and provide your children with this water electrolysis and chemical reactions lab.

All together, there are about five different activities for them to perform and these allow the students actually apply concepts learned this year. I want your children to truly experience chemistry, so please help make this year extremely memorable.
