This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My students are naturally curious and learn best through hands-on experiences. One of our Next Generation Standards include the understanding of life cycles. I would love to offer my students an opportunity to witness the life cycle of a chick. By receiving incubators, my students will be able to learn about the life cycle of a chick directly through exploration in the classroom.

My goal is to create an unforgettable experience that will hopefully encourage a life long curiosity for learning and exploring.

The incubators will provide students with an opportunity to learn about the life cycle of a chick. The hands-on experience will also offer students the opportunity to share what they are learning with their families. I plan to document the process and share with families. Eventually, I would like to encourage families to raise their own chicks to have a more sustainable and accessible source of food.

My students are eager to learn and engage with the real world. They have limited opportunities since they come from a low income neighborhood, known for high crime and poverty. Engaging in science at this level expands their scope of what education really means.
