First Grade Writers!

Help me give my students markers to write with. This will increase student desire and motivation to write their ideas and thoughts. When writing with a marker first graders are excited and tend to write more.

My Project

In my first grade classroom we do a lot of nontraditional writing. We spend several hours a day writing on white boards and writing with vis-a-vis markers. That amount of writing means there are a lot of markers running out of ink each day. Having extra markers will make sure the students are writing with the same color and that there is always a marker ready to use.

Using markers increases student motivation when writing.

They feel excited to write because they are using something other than a pencil. We use the smaller tip vis-a-vis markers in many different ways in the classroom. The students use these markers to correct their work and others work. They use them to give feedback next to an answer that was right or wrong. These markers are also motivators. Using a marker increasing the desire to do hard work and increases motivation and desire.

The totes will be used to help me keep the supplies I need for each reading, small group organized and ready.

Mrs. Cameron will only receive her materials if this project is fully funded by August 16.
