My Project

My class is full of creative, high-energy first graders who have a diverse set of learning needs. Several of my students need flexible seating accommodations. Flexible seating options give students the opportunity to learn and practice self-regulation of their sensory needs so they can effectively access learning in the classroom. The wobble stools and yoga ball chairs will be used by all but most consistently will be used by students with higher sensory needs. They will be used during independent and small group learning time so first graders can move while engaging in our learning jobs.

The smiley face rug will be located in our central learning space in our classroom.

The smiley faces will help students stay in their own space bubble. The rug will also help create a joyful space to engage students in whole-group lessons. Movement is proven to help little learners focus.
