Ms. Fletcher from Atlanta GA is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
Help me give my students chair pockets to help them develop their organizational skills. The chair pockets will hold their books, art supplies, paper, and their data notebook.

I teach in an urban elementary school where my first grade students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. My students live in the Georgia intercity. Our school is identified as a low performing school within our public schools system and is a part of the Title I system. Every single one of my students comes from similar socioeconomic backgrounds and cultures. In the community I service, majority of the children are from single parent homes. Traditionally, our students are one level or more below grade level. As teachers, we have the responsibility of filling every deficiency and producing a child that can be successful moving forward.
When students learn they create memories, experiences, and connections to what they're seeing that will last a lifetime.
Help my students to become students who look back in life and remember that someone took a chance on them and planted a seed of success that last a lifetime.
My students sit at tables which offer wonderful opportunities for collaboration and discussion, but little to no supply storage. I want to provide them with an area to keep and retrieve their belongings without getting out of their chairs! Their belongings will be regularly used through out the school day and it is important that the students can access them quickly. Since we use tables in my first grade classroom, chair pockets are a great way to store all their belongings.
The chair pocket will help students have a location for all of their instructional materials.
This allows for smooth transitions and more engagement from the students. This ultimately allows for more learning to occur! Your donation will not only benefit students this
year, but will also aid students in the years to come.
Our school prides itself on developing students who are college and career ready. Today's first graders will be tomorrow's leaders. Our students are capable and lovable and its our job to teach them the skills they will need and the potential they have to better their community and themselves.
