My Project

In kindergarten, students not only learn all the letters and the sounds they represent, but they also learn to blend those sounds together and begin to read their first words. They are starting to crack the code of reading, and it is MAGIC!

Science has shown us that when learning to read, students should have books where the majority of the text students can "decode" or sound out.

I currently do not have any decodable books in my classroom, and, therefore, my students rely on photocopied "books" or pages to practice their reading.

I would absolutely LOVE for my students to have access to a classroom library where there are actual books with colorful pictures and story lines that they CAN read which are appropriate for them. Please consider helping me make this a reality for my students!
