Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Roosevelt High School is located within the Yonkers Public School District, an urban district and serving over 27,000 students. Roosevelt High School is dedicated to helping those within our district community. We have a Community Closet where we keep a fresh line of incoming gently used clothing for students and families looking for clothing items from infant to adulthood.

We have a special dedicated section in our closet that is for students and families unfortunate to have been the victims of a fire.

Here, we only accept new items with tags. We stock toiletries and clothes/footwear. We are seeking donations of the most commonly requested items. We need all sizes of the following: Socks, underwear, bras, leggings, sweatpants, sneakers and coats. We also accept new comforters, pillows and sheet sets.

If you can find it in your heart to help provide for those in their time of need, please consider donating to this great cause.

My school is located in Yonkers, New York, and serves students from a variety of ethnic backgrounds primarily Latino, African American, and Middle Easterner. We are a Title I school system where all students are on free lunch. The population of my students is classified as special needs and ELLs.
