I educate students in Northeast Baltimore City. Our school is a Title I school, which means that most of the students live below the poverty line. This year I have the opportunity to teach and learn from 24 3rd grade students. They are energetic, eager to learn, and have amazing work ethics. My goal is to always become the best educator possible to them because it is what they deserve.
Tablets would help increase my students' creativity!
One of the things I love most about my students is how creative they are. They are always trying to find new ways to learn and become better versions of themselves. Their artistic sides are amazing and they really show their personalities through the many ways they engage with their work. They all have big hearts and love to support each other whenever we do group work. Their friendships have gone as far back as Pre-K and many of them are almost like brother and sister!
Currently, my students do not have access to technology in the classroom. Using tablets would help increase their access to more reading resources online. More access to these resources can help improve their reading within months! Most of my students are either on a 2nd or 1st grade level. Using this technology would seriously get my students on track to getting on grade level. This year is a testing year and my students need to improve as much as possible to show their growth on their end of the year tests. Please help me and my students grow and show Baltimore city what they have to offer!
According to McGraw Hill Education, 82 percent of students say digital learning technology allows them to spend more time studying through increased accessibility.
Using tablets puts my students at a higher position to grow than other classes that do not have technology. In 2020, technology is basically a necessity for classroom learning. Without it, students struggle more academically because of the lack of UDL (Universal Design for Learning) in the classroom. I am confident that with these resources, my students will grow exponentially and become stronger academically.
