Finley's Flexible 5th Grade Classroom

My students need furniture for a flexible learning space type classroom. I am requesting a futon sofa, several different types of chairs, and two tall tables.

My Students

My students are a wild bunch of very creative and expressive young thinkers. They thrive in activities where they are out of their seats and collaborating on a project. They continuously amaze me with the things they come up with!

My students are extremely energetic and love the opportunity to get out of their seats and work together on a project.

While my district (and school) support the idea of flexible learning spaces, there is not a budget available to fund these changing needs of our classrooms. We are very lucky to have gotten iPads for the entire fourth grade student body, so now my kids are able to get out of their desks and work in a more comfortable location in the room using their iPad.

My Project

I have chosen items such as a futon for my classroom library, several different types of chairs that are able to be moved around the room, and tall tables and stools, that will give kids the ability to stand if they choose to. By offering my students new options for getting comfortable in their classroom, I will be able to allow them freedom to move about, make their space their own, and express their creativity. I have been doing research on the benefits of flexible learning environments and I am so excited to see my students excel in this new type of classroom. I have been gifted with twenty, very bright and imaginative individuals and they deserve this new and exciting classroom in which to grow and learn!

Donations to this project will allow my students to learn and work in an environment more suited to these 21st century thinkers.

They are growing up in a world that is very different and innovative. They deserve a classroom that is more conducive to collaboration and the new resources they have available to them.
