Your thoughtfulness has already made a meaningful impact in our classroom, and my students and I are truly grateful.\r\n\r\nWe are using these new resources daily during small-group instruction. The whiteboards have become a favorite tool for practicing cursive and phonics skills, allowing students to work through their thinking step by step and make changes without fear of making mistakes. One special moment that stood out was during a lesson when students eagerly held up their boards to show their words—each child was so proud to show their writing off to their peers and see their peers.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials, their faces lit up with excitement. They were thrilled to have their own tools to write, draw, and actively participate in lessons. Several students immediately asked, \"Can we use these every day?\" which showed just how motivating and engaging these resources are for them.\r\n\r\nBecause of your generosity, our next steps include using the whiteboards for collaborative problem-solving, quick checks for understanding, and interactive literacy activities. Students will continue building confidence as they practice skills, share ideas with classmates, and receive immediate feedback in a fun, low-pressure way. Your donation has truly enhanced our learning environment and helped create a classroom where students feel excited, capable, and supported.\r\n\r\nThank you again for giving us such a wonderful gift and for believing in my students. Your kindness is felt every single day in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1765411928038,"projectUrl":"project/from-smudges-to-success-help-us-refresh/9895097/","projectTitle":"From Smudges to Success: Help Us Refresh Our Writing Tools","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wulbert","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1500488_orig.png?crop=398,398,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1651778098252","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1500488"},{"teacherId":1034765,"projectId":9255984,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generous support of our project, Read, Repeat & Succeed: Decodable Books for Early Readers. Because of your gift, my kindergarten students now have access to a brand-new set of decodable texts that align closely with the phonics skills we are teaching under the science of reading framework. These books give them the chance not just to recognize phonics patterns, but to apply them in real reading situations. They are strengthening accuracy, fluency, automaticity, and comprehension. Your gift helps bridge the gap between classroom instruction and independent reading practice by offering just-right challenges that boost confidence.\r\n\r\nIn our reading block, you will now see excited learners eagerly choosing the decodable books during guided reading rotations. Some students begin with the teacher-led phonics focus lesson, then break into small groups and pick a book from our new shelf. While they read, I circulate and prompt them with questions like: \"What vowel sound do you hear here?\" or \"What spelling pattern do you recognize in this word?\" They then reread the text to build fluency, looking for increasingly smooth phrasing and meaning that makes sense. After reading we talk about how the patterns they practiced helped them read new words with more ease. Because these texts are familiar in pattern yet new in vocabulary, students are challenged but set up for success, a combination that fuels a love of reading.\r\n\r\nOne of my sweetest observations: a student who arrived in August reluctant to read aloud is now confidently selecting a decodable book and saying, \"I got this one!\" She does not want me to help her read every word anymore, she is finding the patterns and pushing herself. Another child with foundational gaps in phonics is rereading the same book three times this week and saying, \"I can read it faster now!\" Your donation is making the difference in helping these young readers feel capable, valued, and excited about reading. Thank you for giving them that chance to shine.","fullyFundedDate":1746800156665,"projectUrl":"project/read-repeat-succeed-decodable-books-f/9255984/","projectTitle":"Read, Repeat, Succeed: Decodable Books for Early Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reinartz","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1034765_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1451680221960","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-reinartz"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_16550","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":542,"numTeachers":39,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":19,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":27,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":23,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":85.2,"schoolId":16550,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Indian Creek Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Indian Creek Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/lewisville-independent-school-district/indian-creek-elementary-school/16550"}
