My students are from low socioeconomic backgrounds. Most are second language learners who need visuals and extra support in learning the language. The area around the school is mostly surrounded by apartments. My students need extra supplies in order to jump-start their learning and get them ready to start reading.
Being able to comfort a child by putting a band-aid on their cut is so simple.
Sometimes all our students want and need is a chance for their story to be heard. My students get excited and enthusiastic about the littlest thing, and I am hoping that by continuing to get projects funded, I can help further their love of learning and play.
As the year comes to an end, we need a few odds and ends to make sure we have everything we need. I am asking for some snacks: Goldfish and Ritz Crackers to make sure that students have snacks if they are hungry at recess. I have been fortunate enough to be able to provide my students with snacks on a daily basis if they need it, and I hope to finish out the school year this way. We need some more Play-Doh as all of ours has gotten old and hard. The students use Play-Doh on a weekly and daily basis, by making the letter of the week, as well as having Play-Doh in the free choice area. I am also asking for more organizing bins! We have been so lucky to have gotten alot of materials this year, from parents and families, but now our class doesn't have enough storage containers! I am asking for various size bins that would get organize our materials, papers, toys, books, etc. I am hoping to also get pom poms as they are so useful when we are working on fine motor skills. I have this activity where students have to use tweezers to place pom poms on dots that make up letters/numbers and students love this activity! Unfortunately I do not have enough pom poms to have more than two students do this activity, so I am hoping with your donation to make this a group activity during table time rotations.
