My Students

My students are now accustomed to our daily routine and curriculum. It is time to expose them to more technology and tools to better support their individual needs, so they can better access learning and enhance their experiences in the classroom.

I have 12 students with moderate/severe disabilities in my 1st-2nd grade special day class located in a public elementary school.

My kids have a range of disabilities, including; autism, speech or language impairment, intellectual disability, and orthopedic impairment.

My Project

The iPads will be communication devices for some of my non-verbal students, as well as a tool for enhancing our curriculum with appropriate apps and programs for the entire class. The interactive board programs will provide my students with more engaging and fun learning opportunities, while reinforcing our academic curriculum. The adapted tools (scissors, slant boards, grips), fine motor activities (games), and sensory equipment (weighted pad, belt, lizard) will help support my students' unique needs so they can access learning, while being as independent as possible. Art projects are a big part of our curriculum, as they are a way for our students to independently express themselves, while providing end products that they are very proud of.

The donations will all be used to enhance our curriculum and learning in the classroom.

They will also provide tools and supports for our students to be more independent, confident, and engaged.
