Help me give my students ways to work on our fine motor skills. These markers, dot paints, glue, sand, pens, etc. will help them develop the fine motor skills they need to write their names, be creative, and express themselves.
My students are adorable children, who range from age 3 to age 6. They have a wide range of disabilities from autism to Down Syndrome to health impairments that make it a struggle for them to be in a regular class.
My students are creative, diverse, inquisitive, and clever.
My students love to explore the world around them. They grow and learn more every single day and are always surprising me with their growth, emotionally, socially, and academically.
Since my students are special ed students, they suffer many different hardships. They have trouble communicating and expressing themselves. Despite this, however, my students do their best every single day and never let their hardships bring them down. They come to school every single day with huge smiles on their faces, and they cannot wait to learn and explore the world around them. Their potential is endless, and I want to give them everything they need to help them achieve that.
Writing is a very important prerequisite skill for all students. Every day, we practice writing our names, and we write about things in our journals and draw pictures. Learning is so much better in color, and the students love using markers, crayons, pens, and paints to express themselves creatively. Our students also love making sand sculptures in kinetic sand and showing off their creations.
Creativity is vital to learning and personalization.
Many special ed students are nonverbal and cannot express themselves verbally. We use our artwork, our stories, and our toys to tell a story and develop meaningful relationships with our peers, as well as using them to teach other people about ourselves.
With these materials, our environment will become even more creative than it already it. The students will have the tools they need to personalize and express themselves through creativity and writing.
