This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are predominantly low socioeconomically, but thrive on engaging themselves in learning. Every morning when they come in, they are eager to see the objectives and what we will be covering in each subject for the day. Even though most, if not all, of them are on the free or reduced price lunch plan, they are very friendly and welcoming with great social skills among their peers. My school is full of passionate teachers, teaching the 7 habits of highly effective people to our students to help them become leaders everyday. Through their leadership we can have a better tomorrow!
My Project
The materials requested would be extremely helpful in a first year, pre-k classroom. These babies will come to me with little knowledge and functioning skills and throughout the year we will learn and grow together!
We will spend the majority of the time working on basic, foundational skills and with our hands getting accustomed to manipulating objects and sorting them.
We'll be using our brains and the blocks to make new patterns and shapes! We will learn colors, numbers and letters by dragging and dropping and moving. Painting and writing can also be fun using textured brushes and big pencils with fun to hold grips. In my classroom, we will learn through play!
